[RECIPE] Gyudon
Savory, sweet, tender, and juicy, Gyudon has been a classic dish in Japanese cuisine for many years. This beef bowl combines rich flavors with the convenience of a quick 20-minute cook time, making it perfect for a busy weeknight dinner. For a refreshing twist, pair it with pickled red ginger which provides a crisp contrast to the rich beef.

Ingredients:
- 3-4 cups Cooked Rice (Rice Options)
- 1 lb Thin sliced beef chuck
- 1/2 Onion

- Scallion
- Pickled red ginger
Instructions:
- Cook the Rice to prepare. (See how to cook rice)
- Thinly slice the onion and chop the scallions. Set these aside for later use.
- Cut the beef chuck into bite-sized pieces.
- In a frying pan, add water and Dashi pack and bring to a boil.
- Once it starts to boil, remove the Dashi pack, then add soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and grated ginger.
- Add the thinly sliced onions and beef to the pan. Cover with a lid.
- Turn the heat to medium and let the ingredients cook together. Skim off any scum that forms on the surface. After a few minutes, reduce the heat to low and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Spoon the cooked rice into a serving bowl. Pour some sauce over the rice. Layer simmered beef and onions over the rice.
- Top with chopped scallions and a generous amount of pickled red ginger.
